regarding minecraft

i dont know how im supposed to upgrade from using wood. all i find is gold, diamond, redstone and lapis but get notthing when i use my wooden pick ><

someone explain this to me pls

Effectiveness of items goes like this
Wood=Gold -> Stone -> Iron -> Diamond

So you could make stone tools and if you find iron then smelt the iron in a furnace and make iron tools from that
Red stone, lapis, and diamond are all pretty rare by the way...

yeah i was all decked out in diamond and armor with a compass and clock and a nice little house.
then, while exploring a natural cave, was anally raped by some zombie.
i lost everything.

including the will to live.

Yee that's why you store stuff in chests
And if you go on expeditions that are far away you should set up a base of operations, and always bring along lots of food

well i built my home above the cave. and i did store some things in my chest. but i had mined a lot of things and was getting pretty far.

Yeah if you go far away then it's important to set up a base of operations once you decide you've reached a location with ample exploration potential (usually around huge mountains).

I usually make mine pretty simple: cobblestone frame with a single chest, furnace, and workbench inside. And then some torches around the outside to help me find it again.

I want to play with you too but my internet is too bad to host sigh.......
I could ask my friends if they'd let you join us but I don't think they'll say yes since they don't know who you are and the strain on the server is already getting a bit much

nah that's cool i just have to make some new minecraft friends.

and or find a way to break through my school's firewall :O
